About the Festival

T

he Broomfield Choral Festival (BCF)is a proud member of the Broomfield Council on the Arts and Humanities. At the heart of the Festival is a group of dedicated musicians who love to perform for a community that loves to hear good music.

We are your friends and neighbors, homemakers, business people, teachers, students, retirees and many others whose interest in live music is bringing us together into this unique organization. What we have in common is the love of performing music.

The BCF delighted to have received individual endorsements from Broomfield Mayor Karen Stuart, Representative Dianne Primavera, and Councilwoman Bette Erickson, as well as endorsements from organizations that include The Broomfield Civic Chorus, the Broomfield Rotary Club, the Presbyterian Church of Broomfield, and the ASTER Women's Chamber Choir.

Opportunity

W

ho will form the choirs and orchestras of the future? Will our musical heritage be lost to future generations? How do we instill in today's youth an appreciation of our rich musical heritage?

As a Colorado non-profit corporation, the Broomfield Choral Festival (BCF) is providing wide access to major choral music while contributing to the healthy future and vitality of music and arts in our community. The Broomfield Choral Festival gives opportunity for local singers to perform the masterpieces of music and for audiences to hear and enjoy. Our annual concert features a wide range of music. Free admission maximizes audience attendance. Removal of the audition process encourages singer participation.

In our first two annual concerts, well over 1200 individuals have experienced the powerful transformation that live music can afford. We envision becoming a true community tradition, creating wonderful music music and providing valuable educational opportunities for performers and audiences alike.

Community

T

he communal value of experiencing live music is powerful for the listener. The emotions that each individual feels are enhanced by the belief that others are sharing those same emotions. The experience of sharing communication in an ensemble performance is a special one for those who participate.

Broomfield Choral Festival Joins singers into a body large and diverse enough to perform with the best of professionals, affording an experience to the non-professional singer that would otherwise be almost impossible.

Many of our singers have never sung with a professional orchestra before joining the BCF. In our first two annual concerts, well over 1200 individuals have experienced the powerful transformation that live music can afford.

Our 2007 annual concert was supported and enhanced by orchestra members from thoughout the metro area and by participants, supporters and audience members from Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette, Westminster, Greeley, Thornton, Denver and Longmont.

Education

O

ur youth today are never far from their IPODs. But there's a critical difference between listening to music and making it yourself. The BCF provides a vehicle to educate and engage the hearts of our young singers in an inclusive community concert setting, influencing them to become the music lovers and performers of tomorrow. Our summer concert and rehearsal schedule, the the opportunity to perform with a professional orchestra and soloists, enables student singers to experience the true "high" of performing some of the greatest choral works of all time.

Collaboration

T
he Broomfield Choral Festival provides an annual opportunity for the community to gather to celebrate some of the greatest musical works ever written. While music brings us together, strong and lasting artistic partnerships and friendships result.

Area churches have freely made their facilities available and received valuable interaction with the community as a result.

Professional displays by local arts groups at the concert venue raise public awareness and appreciation for additional arts opportunities in our area. This is a unique feature of the BCF Festival, and ongoing artistic collaborations have resulted from this spirit of inclusivity.

Numerous volunteers make possible each annual performance contributing over 350 hours in addition to the hours of music preparation.

The challenge of perfecting the music and the magnitude of the event have a lasting effect upon those who participate in the Broomfield Choral Festival. While music brings us together, strong and lasting friendships are established as well.
